Rarest of rare US maker marked boxplate

Rarest of rare US maker marked boxplate
$0.00
The rarest of all maker marked plates. Not pristine but it was there and in as dug condition. US Boxplate maker marked HUNTER on reverse. HUNT_R is present. Face is still dirt covered and has rust from hooks showing through. Only one of these I have ever seen, and is missing in almost every maker marked plate collection. Certainly would be a filler until you could find another, if ever. According to Bazelon & McQuinn American Military Goods Dealers and Makers (pg70), possibly made by a saddler. Don’t miss this one.
